Forslag til vedtægtsændringer på
IAML conference 2007

IAML Board
General Secretary Roger Flury.

The board of the Norwegian and Danish IAML hereby sends a number of propositions of changes to the rules and procedures of the association - they are intended to be discussed/voted on at the next general assembly in Sydney 2007.

We find it important to regularly modernise our association thereby ensuring that what we have to offer is up-to-date, thus securing new members.

It is also important to be more specific about the goals of our association, both now and in the future. Thereby the association's profile sharpens and hopefully making IAML more visible in todays media. A clear objective for our association makes it easier for members to relate to and engage in the associations work.

With the proposals it will be possible to change "Fontes" to electronic publishing. Currently the journal is where most of the association's fundings go. We think that these could be better used if directed at activities for the members, for example assisting the National Branches in establishing webpages and online connections. Electronic publishing does not exclude a print-on-demand service, which we could offer to the members for whom downloading of electronic documents are not an option.

The conferences

There is a need to strengthen the academic presentations at the conferences. This can be done by inviting more presenters from outside the inner circle of the association. We propose that Sydney 2007 will be the first to host new workshops about the modernisation of the conferences. Before this it might be useful to gather information and inspiration from similar conferences around the world. The Danish and Norwegian IAML would like to be a part of this.

In today's electronic society we should seriously consider if it is necessary and economically responsible to hold conferences every year. Therefore we would like to start a debate among the members, whether or not there should be a conference every year.

Voting/Ascertainments

We hereby propose a number of changes in the regulations of voting and ascertainments. The proposal aims to modernise the procedures and rules in this area.

In general: Proposed changes are ]underlined and in sharp brackets[. Existing text is shown in plain text, except where changes are proposed. Text to be replaced is crossed out. You may use the Search function: ] or [ - to find the changes.

We look forward to an open debate about these issues and proposals.

The proposals will also be published on IAML.dk.
